Alleged Kitten Strangler Appears in Court!

NEW ZEALAND – A man has recently appeared in court charged with strangling a kitten to death.

Tere Teropiha Poi, who is 19, is charged with willful, ill-treatment of an animal, “namely a kitten, by tying a belt around its neck, tightening it and causing it to die”.

Poi, who currently lives in Hauturu, allegedly strangled the kitten at Kawhia on June 19.

He is also charged with an assault on a female, possession of cannabis and possession of two bongs for smoking cannabis on June 20.

Poi appeared in the Hamilton District court on Tuesday and was represented by a duty lawyer by the name of Satya Pandaram.

Community magistrate Kathryn Wilson remanded him on bail without plea and to next appear in the Te Awamutu District Court next month.
