Tiny Kittens, Abandoned by Their Mom, Find Nurturing and Love From Unlikely Surrogate!

A total of three tiny kittens who were abandoned by their mother have found a new mom – in a pug.

Conker, Pumpkin and Pickle have had a difficult start in life, born in a London stairwell and left to fend for themselves.

However, when they were brought to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. they met Peppa the Pug.

Peppa was also found as a stray and one day, was brought into Battersea in April.

The staff at the charity feared she had been used for backstreet breeding. Her body showed the signs of bearing multiple litters and she also had mastitis, which is an infection in her mammary glands.

Her luck drastically changed when she was adopted by Battersea Canine Behaviourist and Training Advisor Louise Taylor who fostered her while she was recovering from her surgery.

Louise is now fostering Conker, Pickle, and Pumpkin, tiny kittens that are so young – they were only one-day-old when they first arrived at Battersea – they require bottle-feeding around the clock.

As soon as Peppa set eyes on the tiny kittens, she immediately decided they were her responsibility, without any hesitation.

The kittens spend their time snuggled up close to protective Peppa in her basket as she washes them and mothers them like they are her own.

Louise stated: “We knew Peppa had been a mother before and she’s a natural.

“She won’t let Conker, Pickle, and Pumpkin out of her sight and is constantly washing them and making sure they’re all clean.

“It’s been lovely to see the four of them together, especially knowing these three kittens had such an unlucky start in life.”

All three kittens have new homes lined up for them when they are old enough to be adopted.

Battersea has plenty of other dogs and cats who are also looking for their forever home – read more about them on the website.
