Talleyrand is a 2-month-old kitten was found in a storm drain. Sadly, she was paralyzed with deep pain and no movement in her hind legs or tail. X-rays officially confirmed she had a fracture of her L3 vertebra and shifting of her spinal column.
Thankfully, the kitten was indeed rescued by Humane Rescue Alliance who didn’t want to give up hope. Talleyrand began acupuncture treatment and has since regained feeling as well as movement in her hind feet and tail. Prior to this treatment, she wasn’t able to urinate or defecate on her own, with staff having to express her bladder.
She’s also currently receiving electroacupuncture, which helps stimulate the nerves and to increase the effect from the acupuncture treatments.
Just about one month after beginning the treatments, Tallyrand began showing progress.
She took her very first steps toward a life as a normal cat and is indeed expected to be able to walk on her own again.
She is now able to get herself in and out of her litter box and is making amazing progress.
