“Gail moved to Israel with around 29 sick feral cats who had no chance of finding a home. Since Chachi, Gail decided she would never turn a blind eye to a cats suffering or pain.
“Gail used to work 3 jobs to be able to care for the cats but due to ill health issues, she had to stop working and set up a charity to help her with these cats which she cares for.”
“Gail currently has over 95 cats in the Haven all from damaged and abuse backgrounds. She also feeds 150+ street cats each night. She has to feed them at night so people do not find where they are living. In Israel many people treat cats as vermin and kill and abuse them. In addition to this Gail is raising awareness and campaigning to tighten the laws on cat welfare AND running a TNR campaign. Gail does all of this without any help from anyone.”
The Haven is currently a run down warehouse which leaks and is falling down, but that’s where Gail and the cats live. It costs in excess of £1,500 / $2,300 / €2,200 per month to keep the haven and feed the street cats.
This place has seen better days. You can see the holes in the roof and windows. So it’s very wet and cold in winter. A few days ago there was a massive storm and part of the roof collapsed. The landlord doesn’t care and has no intention of repairing any of the damage which was done by the storm.
‘Luckily none of the cats were hurt,” Faye writes. “This is why the campaign has been set up to raise money for Gail to be able to hire help and get herself and the cats into a better living situation.”
