“When we started last week we were talking about [how] we had a number of cats in the shelter, had 114. Well, as of today we have 116 adopted,” said Ron Ellsworth.

Ellsworth said with the addition of a few cats brought in to the shelter during the campaign, the city managed to find homes for every cat sheltered there, including some stragglers which were dumped off last minute.
“During the week we had some more cats come into the shelter and we were actually able to turn some of those around and get those back out fairly quickly.”
The ‘Fall in Love’ blitz dropped the city’s adoption price from $120 to $20 in an effort to motivate cat lovers to adopt.
Ellsworth said it was a “superb week” and says the success is due to the wonderful staff there.
“I spent some time there on Wednesday with our staff, about 45 minutes, and it was like a train station an hyperdrive,” he said.
“The number of individuals coming in, going through the centre, and how efficient our staff were at the desk in working with individuals, getting the paperwork done, getting people processed and getting the animals out fairly quickly.”
That’s a lot of new forever homes and a lot of love!
