Firefighters from that agency pulled a total of six kitties from a SoCal fire which left one person with minor injuries.
The fire was reported a short time before 9 a.m. in the 1200 block of E Street, near Sherman Avenue, according to the Corona Fire Department. Crews arrived to find a camper burning in a vacant lot. This fire was threatening nearby homes.
A bystander suffered minor burn injuries to his hands and was sent to a hospital for treatment, according to the fire department.
Crews quickly extinguished the fire and discovered six kittens on the property. They were obviously traumatized but suffered no apparent injuries.
The litter was turned over to Corona Animal Control and will be examined by veterinarians today, a city official told City News Service.
Animal control did not say when or even if the kittens would be available for adoption. The whereabouts of the mother cat were unknown as she was nowhere to be found on the scene.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
