Biloxi Feral Cat Buddy To Be Domesticated And Placed in Loving Home - READ MORE ABOUT THE BILOXI CATS

BILOXI, MS - Some of the people in the town had a meeting to find ways of having these cats removed from the area.

Buddy is just one of many cats who have lived near what used to be Biloxi Regional Hospital for many many years.

Karen Whalen and others have been feeding the cats without any problems, until a note was posted recently saying the cats had to go.

Recently, what Whalen believed to be antifreeze, which is a lethal poison, was found near the spot where she was feeding these cats.

It took a rescue team many hours to round up these cats. Simply placing food in carriers and waiting for these kitties to file into them just was not working, except for one cat. Buddy decided it was time to eat.

This might have been the very lunch which saved his life and gave him a new home.

“The traps were still empty Saturday morning,” Whalen said. “But we set a carrier down with some food in it and Buddy stuck his head in it and we just shoved him in there.”

Buddy’s new human, Beth, will attempt to make the feral feline into a house cat by domesticating him.

“Beth is transporting him to her place in McHenry,” she said. “We got him out of the carrier and put him into his condo and (Nethery) is going to start domesticating him.”

Whalen said the group is still trying to think of a better plan for the rest of the Biloxi cats.

“No one wants these cats to go,” she said. “The business owners love the cats and they don’t want to see them leave. We are discussing adding some cameras to the neighborhood” to keep a lookout for anyone trying to harm the cats.
