A tiny kitten just managed to escape death when she was found on a conveyor belt by a worker who just so happened to be sifting through the trash at a Northern California recycling center.
Just before falling into a running compactor, Tony Miranda saw the kitten and scooped her up as fast as he could. He was puzzled by just how the kitten got in with the trash. The palm sized tabby first survived a ride in a dump truck and then traveled onto the conveyor belt to dodge death by mere seconds.
“It’s amazing to see a little kitten survive through all this. It made my day today,” Miranda said.
Heather Garcia, the site supervisor, saw the kitten and decided she would keep her herself. She named the kitten Murphy, which is the name of the center she was found.
The little kitten was taken to the vet and was given a clean bill of health. Now she’s happy and thriving in her new home.
