This is the story of Moony strangecat!
Luc shares her story with us here at The Best Cat Page, “Moony is a female Persian. On a cold day in March of 2014, I found a pet carrier at the entrance of the building I live in! So, I looked in the box through the door and I saw this poor cat who was totally frozen and afraid. At that moment I said to myself, ‘one of my neighbors must have forgotten it here.’
I did ask around, but no one seemed to know where the cat came from or who it belonged to. It certainly wasn’t my plan to end up adopting a cat at the time.
When I first saw how fluffy she was and how afraid she looked, I couldn’t help it, I absolutely fell in love with her. It was love at first sight! But she was so unique looking, I had no idea what breed of a cat she was! She was unlike any cat I had ever seen before!
At first, I called her Minou ( means kitty in French.) I decided to keep Minou
with me. She hid for three whole days before she would even allow me to touch her. She has a very strange look to her as you can see. Many are afraid of her because she always looks as if she is angry or frustrated!
She was about 5 months old when I found her.
One morning, she woke me up by tickling my face with her long whiskers and I yelled, “STOP THAT, MOONY!” I remember I immediately started to laugh. ‘Moony’ became her new name! The name “Moony” fit perfectly, too, because she kind of remind me of a werewolf! Her claws are very long and large also, just like a werewolf’s claws would be!
I tried for a very long time on the internet to figure out what breed of cat she was. Being a Persian, she did look like one, but a strange one!
A year later I was watching television and they presented a new “star cat” on the internet. Behold! This cat could have been Moony’s twin and I almost fell off my chair! I found out that Moony’s strange werewolf appearance was caused by a rare hormonal disorder called hypertrichosis, (or werewolf syndrome.) A condition which causes longer than normal hairs on a cat and claws that are huge compared to cats who aren’t born with this condition!
This is when I decided to create Facebook page for Moony, to share her with the world!”
