Curious Cat Coco Flown Home Following 372-Mile Road Trip By Mistake

Curiosity didn’t kill this cat, however, it did lead her on a 372-mile road trip across a large chunk of Queensland.

Coco , at just 10 months old, went missing from her Gold Coast home on Boxing Day, causing owner Kelly Graydon to fear the little rescue cat had come across a snake in nearby bushland.

But after 10 days on the run, Coco was somehow found at a shopping centre in Gladstone, central Queensland.

Ms Graydon, who was holidaying with her family in New Zealand, first knew the cat had travelled a long way from home when a good Samaritan called to say they had found just her collar.

“I didn’t believe it,” Ms Graydon said.

“(I thought) how the hell did she get up there?”

It took a bit of investigating, but Ms Graydon eventually figured out the callers had been visiting her on the Gold Coast when Coco jumped in their car.

There she stayed for days as the travelers returned to their hotel and drove back to their home town, stopping several times along the way.

“They actually saw her run out from the garage,” Ms Graydon said.

“They thought they were going to just return it (the collar) around the corner.”

After being found, Coco spent a total of two days at a Gladstone pet store before being flown south on Thursday.

Pet store worker Kelly Jones said the cat’s affectionate nature had earned her a true celebrity status in the town.

“We had one customer … taking selfies with the cat,” she said.

“She (Coco) had five people who wanted to adopt her.”

Despite her adventurous ordeal, by the time she managed to arrive at the pet store, she was perfectly fine in every way.
“She’d probably been having a good feed on geckos,” Ms Jones said.
