Man Accused of Killing 7-year-old Son’s Kitten by Throwing it 30 Feet


SALISBURY, NORTH CAROLINA. — A Salisbury man was arrested after allegedly throwing a kitten more than 30 feet which resulted in its death, according to a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report.

Jeremy Edward Austin, 30, of Salisbury, has been charged with felony cruelty to animals.

The incident happened on Saturday at about 11:30 in the morning.

According to the report, Austin “grabbed” a kitten belonging to his 7-year-old son and hurled it “approximately 30 feet causing injury, a broken hip and leg and internal injuries requiring the kitten to be put down by Animal Control.”

A $2,500 bond has been set for Austin.
