KOTA KINABALU, MALAYSIA -Civil Defense Department (JPAM) personnel came to the rescue of a villager who discovered a 4.6-metre long python near his house in the northern Kota Belud district.
The villager, Roslan Sarip Manjadin, spotted the reptile slithering under one of the sheds where he keeps his 50 pet cats at Kampung Nanamun early Friday morning.
JPAM Kota Belud coordinator Khairul Gumpitai said they were alerted of the incident at approximately 8.05am and four personnel including himself rushed to the village about 18km from the town area.
He said it took them over 20 minutes to capture the 38kg snake.
Khairul said after the slithery creature was caught, Roslan managed to account for each and every one of his 50 of his pet cats.
He said the snake was now being held at the JPAM office in Kota Belud and they intended to hand over the animal to the Sabah Wildlife Department.
