LONDON, ENGLAND - Two “terrified” cats have had one lucky day after being found dumped in a box on a secluded footpath near the station in Lower Sydenham.
A member of the public stumbled upon the cats at around 8pm on Wednesday, January 6 when they were walking along the wooded footpath in Westerley Crescent.
RSPCA Croydon Crystal Palace Branch are now caring for the animals, who were healthy but skinny and very hungry when they were found.
The older black and white cat has since been named Lydia and the black cat has been named Lucas.
RSPCA inspector Lynn Winter said: “It is incredibly lucky that they were spotted by this passer-by.
“The plastic cat carrier was hidden in amongst shrubbery on the path in the pitch black - and all we could see at first was two terrified eyes peeping out.
“They must have been so frightened left there in the box in the cold and dark like that.”
Anyone who has information is urged to call the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018.
