Dr. Sarah Mull from Oakland Hills Animal Hospital Eau Claire said a white male cat was recently brought to them with burns, a fractured jaw, and an injured eye. She believes this unfortunately kitty got up under the hood of someone’s car in order to shelter himself from the cold. And of course, whoever started the car, probably didn’t know he was under there. Mull said they don’t get a lot of calls like this, but that could be because a good number of cats die before they can be rescued from these situations.
“The worry we have sometimes is that maybe these are more fatal injuries that these cats will have,” said Mull, “It’s pretty typical that people will have cats that will crawl up into their car in their garage when it’s cold and so we do have a lot of people that will tap on their car, try to make some noise to simulate to them that if they’re under there, that they need to get out because you’re going to be starting your car or something like that.”
Mull said that white cat is recovering well and is now at the Eau Claire County Humane Association - ECCHA. She said he was a tame cat, and very loving, that’s why she believes he has owners are indeed out there somewhere, but no one has come forward yet.
