Cats Rescued, One Person Arrested for Arson

GALT, CALIFORNIA - Galt Police have just arrested at least one individual connected with a Thursday morning fire in which one of the home’s cats required rescuing from Cosumnes Fire Department crews.

Fire department officials are classifying the morning blaze as an arson while an investigation at the Emerald Oak Way home is conducted.

The fire, which was confined to only the bedroom in which it originated and a hallway, has been extinguished, said Kris Hubbard, a battalion chief with the department, and no injuries were reported.

While it remains unclear whether anyone else was in the bedroom when the fire started, Hubbard noted three individuals were living in the home at the time.

Hubbard added the home’s cats were all fine by the time the fire was extinguished and they were pulled from the home.

Way to go, firefighters!
