Ginger Cat Missing For 10 Years Found, But Her Original Owners Don’t Want Her Back!

WREXHAM, UK - Meet Tara the amazing cat who has finally been found 10 years after she went missing.

The ginger haired kitty had moved to the Wrexham area with her new family, after Tara’s original owners emigrated to Australia.

However, she proved to be an escape artist and went missing in the first week of being in her new home.

Despite a very desperate and extensive search they never found out what had happened to their little feline friend - until now.

Unfortunately, circumstances mean Tara may not be returned to the home she escaped from, much to their distress, so she is on the lookout for a friendly new home.

Her secret identity was revealed thanks to a microchip, after she turned up at the Wrexham and District Cats Protection Adoption Centre following the death of her previous owner.

Workers there established that although Tara was a stray, she had been very well fed for the past six years and was in a good state of health apart from a broken tooth.

But that still leaves four years where nobody has any idea how or where the feisty survivor was.

All cats taken to the centre are checked to see if they have been micro-chipped and neutered and much to the staff’s surprise she most certainly was chipped.

Just a bit of detective work on the microchip data base revealed that Tara was 11 years-old.

And much to every one’s surprise it appears Tara was living in same exact area from where she escaped from 10 years ago.

Suzan Kennedy the Adoption Centre Manager stated: “This story shows the importance of microchipping your cat and updating the data base of a change of address, which her new family did.

“So after 10 years we have been able to trace the owners and inform them of their missing pet. They have always wondered what had happened to her.”

Tara is now looking for a brand new home and after having a little dental work and up to date vaccinations, she is ready for adoption.

Centre staff say that Tara is a very affectionate girl, although can be a little shy when she first meets you.

The centre is currently closed due to an outbreak of cat flu.
