Pauline Shields from East Renfrewshire, Scotland, owns a cat named Leo who recently went through hell. Vets had to amputate the poor cat’s tail after yobs set fire to it with a cigarette. Pauline says that Leo is lucky to be alive after enduring a hard surgery that saw parts of his tail and ear removed.
Back in January this year, Pauline heard her beloved pet scream in agony outside her home. Thugs have burned the cat’s tail with a cigarette and she immediately took Leo to the vet. Police were informed of this ugly case of animal cruelty, yet there have been no arrests up to now.
Thanks to Pauline’s neighbor Kimberley Wilson who set up a fundraising page, Leo got all the medical attention required. The cat is currently nearing full health and Pauline has thanked everyone who donated. “Leo’s doing fantastic – things couldn’t be better for the boy,” she said. She got Leo adopted from Cats Protection when he was only 7-months old. In her Neilston home, Pauline has other cats, a dog, goldfish, and an African grey parrot.
“Kimberley helped me when I and Leo needed help the most. I’m grateful for it,” Pauline says of her neighbor. The money left over by the fundraiser will be given to Cats Protection. Pauline is using the horrific incident to raise awareness of animal cruelty and hopes to see the thugs jailed soon.
