BLACKBURN, UK – The man was literally lucky to survive,according to a police spokesman, after he had to be pulled from a canal in Blackburn.
A cat owner needed some rescuing by firefighters – after he dived into a canal to save his drowning pet.
The man and his cat started sinking in an ice-cold stretch of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal which is located in Blackburn, Lancs.
Fire crews pulled both of them to safety at 7am on Friday.
A Lancs police spokesman said the man was lucky to survive, adding: “A gentleman was trying to rescue his pet cat from a canal near to Warwick Close.
“In trying to rescue his cat, he got stranded and the fire service were called out to assist him.”
