Woman Admits to Neglecting Pet Cats and Birds

HANDY TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN – A Handy Township woman admitted on Friday that she failed to properly provide adequate care for 13 cats living in her home.

Linda Lee Bevan, 67, pleaded guilty in Livingston County Circuit Court to one count of abandoning 10 or more animals and neglecting 13 cats and several birds at her home on Free Street in May.

Authorities said the home was not sanitary at all and that animal waste was found everywhere.

Bevan, who entered the plea as a habitual offender, now faces up to six years in prison when she is sentenced Feb. 4.

Her criminal history includes a conviction back in 1997 for being an accessory after the fact to a felony.
