Four Kittens in “Purrfect health” After Fiery Blaze

SHELDON, ENGLAND - Two crews, from Hay Mills and Sheldon, were called to Horrell Road at 12.49pm on Saturday.

Five people were out of the house when fire crews arrived to tackle the blaze, which was believed to have sparked by an unattended pan on the stove.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: “When crews arrived five people had evacuated from the premises after they were alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm.

“The kittens and cats were spread around the property and were hiding in various places.

“They were all found and carried out by firefighters.

“This incident shows the importance of having working smoke alarms fitted in properties.

“We would also like to reinforce the message that food should never be left unattended to cook.”

In a tweet about the rescue, Red Watch at Sheldon fire station said the cats were in “purr-fect health”.

A special thank you to the heroes who saved these cats!
