Officers Find 4 Abandoned Kittens In Box In 90 Degree Weather

A litter of four kittens was rescued from the extreme heat by two compassionate law enforcement officers who discovered them in a box at the side of a road in South Florida.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office wrote via Facebook: “At 2:46 this afternoon, Captain Keith Day and Deputy Justin Adams were patrolling in the area of Santa Maria Dr. and S. Tamiami Trail. Captain Day saw a cardboard box off to the side of the road. Inside the box was a litter of kittens that had been abandoned. The kittens are currently enjoying the comfort of Captain Day’s car (and air conditioning) as they await the arrival of Lee County Domestic Animal Services.”

All four kittens were placed in foster care. They were a bit shy and hissing a lot when they arrived in the shelter, but they appeared to be healthy.

The kittens were only 3-4 weeks old and were put up for adoption when they were ready.

They brought the kittens to a nearby rescue group. The kittens got to enjoy the car ride in Captain Day’s car and the comfort of all the air conditioning.

You can’t beat a police officer who’s kind to animals.
