Rick Benson had been feeding this orange tabby near to where he worked in Novato, California for about two months until one day, he decided to take the stray in for a checkup at the Marin Humane Society.
It was there that they discovered the cat was micro-chipped and the shelter quickly contacted the owners, Nancy and Stephen Payne.
The couple went to the shelter just on Wednesday and were reunited with their beloved Ginger who ran out of the house almost a decade ago when she was just a small kitten.
“Luckily, she was microchipped and was quickly reunited with her family. After being gone EIGHT years! That’s a record for us here at MHS!”
Home for the holidays, the best place to be!
