Crews just managed to evacuate 15 people from a smoke-filled building when they discovered the tiny cats who had been overcome by the toxic fumes.
One by one, the little wee ones were carried out in the big hands of the firemen who then gave them artificial respiration by using oxygen masks and then massaged them until they came back to life.
At one stage, the kittens appear to have succumbed but then miraculously open their eyes and eventually get back onto their feet.
Their delight at each other’s incredible survival is obvious as they lick one another.
All the kittens are expected to make a full recovery, even though they now have eight lives left rather than nine.
There is no report of whether or not their mom was found.
The firemen, meantime, have been hailed as heroes with the gentle touch.
