NYPD Stops Traffic on Queens Highway to Rescue a Cat in Harm’s Way

A warm-hearted highway policeman stopped rush-hour traffic on a busy Queens highway just to rescue a cat stranded in traffic, according to a video posted Wednesday on the NYPD’s Facebook page.

The video shows the officer searching beneath a halted SUV this past Friday. He then asks the driver to pull forward, slowly.

The orange cat appeared to be frozen with fear on the busy Grand Central Parkway.

But when the officer leans down and gently picks up the feline, it clings to him for dear life as he walks off the roadway.

“Cat and cop are now new friends and doing well,” the NYPD’s post reads.

“That is an officer with heart,” a Facebook commenter wrote, and who could have said it better?

The fine policeman carried the cat to a grassy area and set it down, according to police.

The freed feline then took off, hopefully for somewhere safe and away from more oncoming traffic.
