MICHIGAN – He just may be the ‘purr-fect’ greeter for all who visit the Woodhaven City Hall.
Having lived life in a shelter and having no place to call home, Mayor Patricia Odette decided to make an addition to the office that continues to turn heads and warm hearts.
Boo, who is a rescue cat from the Woodhaven Animal Shelter, has become a fixture in the office.
Along with city papers, documents and announcements pertaining to upcoming events, everyone who arrives to handle business also will see, “Boo,” who is the “official” city kitty.
The cat roams wherever he pleases inside the office but is in clear sight of residents who visit.
Odette explained that he has become not only popular in the building, but a comforting animal to many.
One resident even told the mayor she almost didn’t mind coming in to pay a bill because she got the chance to see Boo.
The cat appears to completely enjoy sitting in the window in Odette’s office and gazing into the outdoor rock/grassy area set up to attract other animals.
There is also is a cat, named Diesel, spending his leisure time around the employees in the Department of Public Works office.
Most who know Odette are well aware that she is an avid animal lover.
While the decision to bring a cat into the office might seem unique, it’s not at all surprising for this mayor.
She is infamous for her volunteer work with C.H.A.I.N.E.D. Inc., which is a nonprofit group that identifies dogs that are chained around the clock and works to make life better for each and every one them.
We mention in passing, C.H.A.I.N.E.D. stands for Continue Helping Animals In Need and Educating Dog owners.
