RUSSIA – A cat was rescued from a burning apartment and had an incredible escape – after it was rescued by firefighters air from their own supply.
The poor kitty was trapped in a building and had passed out cold when it was discovered and was removed from the house with the help of a firefighter’s oxygen mask.
The near-miss in St Petersburg, which is in north-west Russia saw one fireman giving the cat life-saving oxygen from his own mask.
The pictures of the cat being saved were published on social media, and these guys instantly became the internet heroes.
One commenter online Rina Vesennya commented: “Very touching!”
Alexey Alexandrovich commented: “We need more people like that! People that love the animals.”
The post got in upwards of 4,000 likes and 400 comments.
Many people praised the firemen in comments for their actions, calling them heroes and saying that the pictures got them crying.
Later the owner of the cat showed up in the comments section, stating: “I sincerely want to thank the firemen, you didn’t save just a cat, you saved a member of our family.
“My whole family is thankful, especially my three-year-old son, who absolutely loves the cat.
“You are true heroes, and you showed what humanity is. If at least half of us were like you, life would be so much easier.”
