WHITEHALL, OHIO — Police charged a man after they said that he set fire to a four-year-old’s cat right in front of her in one of the worst cases of animal cruelty they’ve seen.
It happened just last month on Martha Lane. Police claim suspect Russell Cook, 20, got drunk, doused the neighbor’s cat with lighter fluid and set it on fire.
The cat’s owner’s pulled up just as it was happening and called 9-1-1.
“Someone needs to get here and put the cat out of it’s misery!” the cat owner is heard telling dispatchers during the frantic call.
Officers stated Cook called the cat “rabid” and “flea infested,” but denied his involvement.
Police claimed they tried to turn the cruelty case into a felony, as the allegations disturbed even them.

“It’s no different that working cases with children or the elderly,” stated Detective Brian Smith. “The cases with the victims that can’t help themselves bother us the most.”
Cook had been formally charged with misdemeanor arson, injury to animals and underage drinking. The maximum penalty he may face is six months in jail.
Russell Cook, we here at The Best Cat Page hope karma gets you and gets you good. You are a worthless POS.
