State Trooper Rescues Injured cat Found in Boston’s Callahan Tunnel!

MASSACHUSETTS – A cat is currently on the mend thanks to the quick action of Massachusetts state trooper.

The MSPCA explained that Trooper James Richardson was driving through Boston’s Callahan Tunnel when he saw an injured black and white cat by the side of the road. The cat had apparently been hit by a car and was in significant pain as traffic whizzed by.

Richardson rescued the animal and radioed his dispatcher who suggested he rush the cat right over to the MSPCA in Jamaica Plain. He rushed the 5-year-old male to the shelter.

The veterinarian who first examined the cat explained that it had multiple pelvic fractures and head trauma, but would definitely survive.

The MSPCA is placing the cat, who has been named Callahan, on “cage rest” for five to six more weeks in the hopes his injuries will heal on their own without the need for surgery.

Anyone who might be interested in adopting Callahan can email adoption@mspca.org.
