The two felines, possibly siblings, go by the names of Bonnie and Claudette. They are approximately 2 years old, they are domestic short-hairs with a tiger stripe-like pattern on their coats. The thinner Bonnie has more of a brown coloring, while the slightly plumped Claudette is gray.
Jo Ellen Bollman, Animal Control employee, said the cats have been at the shelter since this past October. They previously served as shop cats , (mousers,) at a Bay City factory and were brought to the shelter by relatives upon the death of the owner.
“They’d be good for another shop or barn,” Bollman said. She added it’s quite uncommon for cats who serve as pest control to be surrendered to the agency.
Both cats still have their claws, but are spayed. Interacting with Bay City Times staff, the two cats were quite friendly and social.
The cats adoptable immediately for $27 each. Shelter Angels, a group that obtains sponsorship for animals housed at the agency to help get them adopted, has provided rabies vaccinations for both kitties.
