According to animal shelters and animal organizations there are a large number of animals returned following this Christmas holiday. The Pitt County Animal Shelter says it has already received several calls from people looking to return animals.
“Sadly, after the holidays, we usually get returns up through January and February. People that maybe didn’t think it through all the way, didn’t realize the time commitment, and didn’t realize the costs of an animal,” said Pitt County Animal Shelter Director, Michele Whaley.
Some of the reasons for returned animals are the dog or cat not quite fitting into the family or that an animal has too much energy.
The proof is in the pudding. Cats and dogs make horrible Christmas presents!
