So, dog is man’s best friend, eh? Well, in this case, it seems a cat is “boy’s best friend.” A best friend who actually took a bullet for one boy!

Here is the story …

A stray bullet went through the window of Angelica Sipe’s living room, and she immediately ran in to find out what had happened. She told Fox News: “It took me a second to realize what just happened. The first thing I did was check on my son and he was sound asleep. Then I saw my cat on the floor and that’s when I realized my cat was shot,”

The bullet went into the couch and hit Opie the cat on the top of his head. The bullet then came out of the bottom of his neck and into his shoulder then richocheted around the room, lodging itself finally into a love seat just inches from her three-year-old son Daemire.

Angelica Sipe is convinced that if the cat hadn’t taken the bullet for him, the little boy surely would be dead. Luckily, Opie is going to be OK.

He suffered some muscle damage and got treated at an emergency vets.

His vet bills soared up high, but the grateful mother is determined to pay it and save his life. She said: “I wanted to keep him. He was my son’s little hero, so I need to keep him around.”

It is believed that no one else was hurt in the shooting. The website of the local police force states “York City Police were dispatched to the first block of South Royal Street for a report of shots fired by unknown suspects. Multiple casings were recovered from the area, and the incident is under investigation.”

Sipes does not want this to happen again, however, and is considering moving away because of it.

“I want out,” she said. “I don’t want to stay here.”
