MUNDUBBERA, AUSTRALIA – So, just how many emergency services workers does it take to rescue a kitten from a dishwasher?
Mundubbera local Shane Sandow discovered the answer this past Saturday night.
“One fire truck, two police cars, two police officers and four firies,” Mr Sandow stated.
“The entire local police force turned up just for one cat.”
Earlier that same evening Mr Sandow’s young daughter Maya discovered the cat, Soxy, in the dishwasher.
“I was in the kitchen getting a juice, and then I heard meowing in the dishwasher so I ran into dad’s room and said the cat is stuck in the dishwasher,” Maya stated.
“Mum tried to (get it out) and dad tried to, but it wouldn’t budge.
“So we called the fireman and they got it out by pulling the middle out.”
Maya said she believes she knew how the cat got in the dishwasher.
“Maybe a mouse ran into the dishwasher and it might have been chasing the mouse,” Maya stated.
Mr Sandow admitted that the dishwasher draw was open a little bit.
“That’s how is might have got in,” he explained.
Mr Sandow reacted to the 911 call with humor.
“It was a little funny to see that many people turn up,” he went on to say.
“They didn’t ever think they’d have to rescue a cat from a dishwasher.
“The first policeman turned up, then the fire brigade just after and then the next policeman turned up.
“Maybe the first one must of called for backup, there’s a kitten stuck in dishwasher I need backup.”
The cat belonged to Mr Sandow’s son Maximilian, who was very happy to finally be reunited with his kitten.
“I’d like to thank the emergency services for rescuing Maximilian’s cat,” Mr Sandow said.
“Thankfully the cat is fine and well.”
