Good Samaritan Drivers Stop To Help Abandoned, Injured Cat On Side of Road!

FLORIDA — Robert Levison was heading to Destin this past Tuesday morning when he noticed unexpected wildlife.

“I had just passed the beaches when I saw a cat sitting just about 8 inches from the road,” he stated.

Levison quickly decided to make a U-turn, along with a few other drivers, when they came across the adult cat. One woman immediately wrapped the cat in a warm towel and he sat comfortably in her arms.

“He was definitely someone’s cat,” Levison stated. “He was very friendly.”

Levison also noticed that the pads on the cat’s paws were severely damaged. Some of the skin was very barely hanging on, which led him to believe the cat might have been thrown out of a car.

“I did not see it,” he stated. “That’s just an assumption.”

The good Samaritans called the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, which offered to take the cat over to PAWS, but one of the women decided to keep the cat.

“She said she was going to take it to her vet, but she said she would be glad to take it home and adopt him,” Levison stated. “I think she will give him a good home.”

As an animal lover, this experience left Levison a bit shaken.

“It breaks my heart,” he stated. “Animals depend on us to take care of them. I just hate that people do that. If you can’t take care of an animal, take it to a shelter. Don’t just throw it out.”

Thank goodness he was there! Great rescue!
