Huge Cats Taking the Internet by Storm

These are furry giants have been taking over the internet…and their owners.

Posting a picture with your massive cat has become the latest online craze, with some of the felines running twice the size of an ordinary house pet.

They include the American Maine Coon breed, one of the largest breeds of domestic cat, which has been known to grow to a length of up to 48in and weigh around 35lbs.

Maine Coons are large and sociable animals, earning them the nickname ‘the gentle giants’, and has become one of the most popular breeds in the world.

But some internet users have spotted a trick that make the animals seem larger than they are, when owners force their cats to stretch out as much as possible and fluff out from their coats.

The reason for the latest craze is unclear but posting pictures of cats on social media is one of the most popular activities on the internet today.

A recent survey by mobile network claimed more than 3.8million cat images are shared per day, compared to 1.4million selfies.

The survey also revealed more than 350,000 cat owners had set up a social media page for their pet.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the world’s longest domestic cat was Mymains Stewart Gilligan, aka ‘Stewie’, who lived in Nevada, US and reached an amazing 48.5 in long when he was stretched out.
