A few months ago, a vet technician named Bre was walking nearby some bushes when going to work when he noticed a tiny kitten. Bre got closer and saw that the kitty was in bad shape – it had a severe infection on the eyes and needed immediate medical attention.
Being a veterinary technician, Bre brought the kitty to the clinic and examined it. The fur needed to go and the kitten was given ringworm treatment. Unfortunately, the infection completely destroyed one of the kitty’s eyes and it had to be removed.
Luckily, the infection was preventable, although the kitten (now named Lenny) lost one eye. Even though Lemmy was in pain, she still purred all the time and snuggled with everyone at the clinic. She was relieved to be in a safe place and grateful for the help Bre and the staff provided.
After a while, Bre formed an inseparable bond with Lemmy and took the kitty home. She nursed her back to health until she recovered both mentally and physically. Lemmy was doing better every day and easily settled in the new surroundings.
After a while, Bre posted her up for adoption. The kitty went off to new homes twice, but her new owners returned her after a few days. Bre was ready to give up finding a new home for the kitty until a lovely couple contacted her. They fell in love with the unique one-eyed kitty and instantly became a great part of their growing family of cats.
“We already have two cats and weren’t sure about a third, but Lemmy stole our hearts,” Celine Machefert, Lemmy’s new owner says. “We knew we would take her as soon as we saw the post – we have a soft spot for these ‘unwanted’ animals,” she says.
Lemmy settled into her new lovely home and bonded with Celine’s two cats. She adjusted pretty quickly and is now enjoying life at its fullest.
Celine and her partner took Lemmy to a cat ophthalmologist to see if anything can be done about her vision. However, they learned that the sight in her other eye wasn’t that great. The doctor said there’s not much he can do, but Lemmy doesn’t seem to mind.
“She’ll run into a wall sometimes and she can’t play with all the toys, but otherwise, she behaves as every other cat,” Celine says. My cats know she’s different so they go easy on her – they even help her move around!”. Even with all the obstacles in her life, Lemmy managed to overcome them with the help of love and support. She’s finally happy and living with people who love her dearly.
