Man Appears to Illegally Dump Cats at Florida Shelter!

FLORIDA – A no-kill shelter is currently hoping to identify the man who abandoned three kittens and a cat in front of its building Thursday.

The man was captured right on the Naples Cat Alliance’s surveillance video and is seen dropping off kittens in a blue bin in broad daylight, just steps away from the shelter’s front door.

Megan Sorbara of the Naples Cat Alliance discovered the kittens on Thursday morning.

“They were scared. One was peaking at me, the others huddled in the corner,” she stated.

The man then returned a second time and can be seen placing a larger cat into the bin. That cat ran away before volunteers could help.

While they attempt to trap the cat who is believed to be the kittens’ mother, workers at the Naples Cat Alliance want to speak with the man responsible for animal abandonment. They want to understand what the motive was behind his actions — dumping away the cats, especially when volunteers were inside.

“I wish he had knocked on the door,” Sorbara stated. “I wish he had knocked on the door and asked for help.”

According to Florida statutes, the abandonment of any animal in a public place is a first-degree misdemeanor. If deemed the owner of the cats, the man pictured in surveillance video may be facing jail time or a fine of up to $5,000.
