Poor Kitty Abandoned With ‘Free Cat’ Sign on Side of a Road!

SCOTLAND – The disturbing trend continues!

The cat, who has officially been named Friday, was picked up from Greenfield Quadrant in Motherwell after a member of the public came across her.

The Scottish SPCA are now appealing for information after a cat was abandoned in a cardboard box alongside a sign displaying the message ‘free cat’.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted just last Sunday (July 10) when a member of the public came across the cat in Motherwell.

The cat is now luckily in the care of the charity’s animal rescue and rehoming centre in Lanarkshire, where she has been named Friday.

Centre manager Peter Fleming stated, “Friday was picked up from Greenfield Quadrant in Motherwell after a member of the public came across her.

“She was inside a wet cardboard box that had the words ‘free cat’ and ‘I am a housecat’ written on it.

“Friday is a beautiful girl who we think is around two years of age. She is in good condition and I just don’t understand why someone would abandon her like this.

“We will look after her until we can find her a loving new home.”

Abandoning an animal is a criminal offense under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006. Anyone who may be found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
