Why You Shouldn’t Feed Your Cat Ice Cream! – VIDEO!

You’re relaxing on the sofa, tucking into a tub of Haagen-Dazs when all of a sudden your feline friend pops up begging for a lick. What kind of monster would turn down such a cute, fluffy face?

Not you – you are a wonderful pet parent. And then suddenly your cats face turns into some furry version of The Scream.

But why? The pain of brain freeze is just that – painful!

Brain freeze jokes aside, ice cream is also pretty bad for cats anyway. A spokesperson for Cats Protection has offered the following advice for kitty owners:

‘Cats Protection does not endorse feeding cats ice cream or other dairy products. Not only are they high in calories but around a third of cats can’t tolerate cow’s milk and it can lead to sickness. We would always recommend a commercial, tinned or dried, meat derived diet designed for cats.

‘This provides the right balance of minerals, vitamins and other nutrients that cats need. One thing that can be tried is introducing feeding enrichment. This provides the cat’s normal food in ways that are more interactive and engaging compared to simply being offered food in a bowl.’

And now that we all know just what kitty brain freeze looks like, there’s probably not much of a need to put your own cat through it for the sake of a few likes on Twitter and on Facebook.
