Taylor Swift’s cats are just like our cats! The “Out of the Woods” singer took to Instagram on Saturday, March 12, sharing a video of her beloved cat Olivia Benson struggling to open a bag of treats in bed.
“You trying to open that?” Swift, 26, asks Olivia, who stops to look at the pop superstar before resuming to try and retrieve some treats from the wrong end of a sealed plastic bag.
“That’s not the right way to open it.”
The Grammy winner then pans the camera over to her second cat, Meredith, who’s lying on the bed watching Olivia fiddling around with the package. “She knows,” Swift quips of Mer, whose namesake is Ellen Pompeo’s character in the show, Grey’s Anatomy. (Olivia is named after yet another strong female TV character, Mariska Hargitay’s Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU.)
Swift has joked about her “cat lady” tendencies in many an interview, and once even imagined herself as being a 30-year-old recluse with “armies” of kittens at home later on in life.
“In five years’ time, she’ll be so afraid of everything, she doesn’t leave her house. She’s just surrounded by cats,” the “Style” performer joked to The Telegraph of her projected older self. “So many cats, they’ve divided themselves up into armies and she wanders around lint-rolling the couch that no one’s going to sit on because she’s afraid to have people over.”
Her friends would never let that happen to her, of course. “They’re like, ‘No, three cats is a cat lady, two cats is a party,'” she told Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan of her pals’ advice with the idea of adding a third kitten to her family.
