RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA – A strict diet did end up helping a 37-pound Riverside cat lose half its body weight in just about a year and a half.
Biggie, who is now about 19 pounds, made headlines back in 2014 when he survived a very risky surgery to remove blockages in his colon – a consequence of his unhealthful diet. That’s when veterinarian Nichole Agarwal decided to adopt him, becoming his personal trainer.
Agarwal, in an email, stated Biggie “is doing remarkably well” after going on the prescription diet.
“He can now function as a normal cat, scratching his neck and grooming himself,” Agarwal said. “Most cats who are that obese develop diseases like diabetes so he is a true success story.”
