TORRANCE, ONTARIO, CANADA – A family and their two cats safely escaped from a fire which raged in their Torrance home’s living room.
The Township of Muskoka Lakes Fire Department received a call on Tuesday Dec. 29 at about 8:30 a.m. from residents who had been awakened by the smell of smoke.
Firefighters from Bala, Torrance/Walker’s Point, Foot’s Bay/Glen Orchard stations worked quickly and precisely to put out the flames at 2643 Muskoka Rd. 169.
They also managed to rescue both cats in the process.
There were absolutely no injuries.
“Due to the quick actions of the firefighters, the damage was attributed only to the structure itself and all of the tenant’s contents were undamaged,” said Fire Chief Richard Hayes.
The damages are estimated to be between $10,000 and $15,000.
The Bracebridge OPP also responded to the fire and determined that the blaze itself wasn’t suspicious.
