FLORIDA – Kringle might have died, if not for some very attentive trash collectors.
Someone left the Florida cat for dead in a black plastic trash bag and simply dumped it in the grass. Inside the bag, Kringle, as he’s now been named, was trapped in a cat crate that was covered in urine and feces.
According to NBC 6 News, who first reported the story, public works employees discovered the male cat last Tuesday after they heard his cries.
“Kringle is now recovering after several days in a plastic bag. He is being treated at Pet Express Animal Hospital,” claims an update on the Saving Sage Animal Rescue Foundation’s Facebook page. “Miami Shores Police Dept is going door to door attempting to find the [person] who did this to this poor kitty.”
Animal cruelty like this is a felony which is punishable by up to five years in prison, NBC reports. “Whoever put that cat there intentionally wanted this cat to die a slow and painful death,” Cathy Bieniek of Saving Sage told the station. “We need to find out who did this, to bring this person, or animal, I should say, to justice.”
Once he recovers, Kringle will then be put up for adoption. If you would like to adopt Kringlem fill out an application, visit the rescue’s website, or click here to donate to his care.
