A cat who has a voice with enough depth to rival the likes of Morgan Freeman and Barry White has recently become an Internet hero.
The velvet tones of Jack the tuxedo cat has been the cause of much amusement after his owner captured his deep meow on camera. Many listeners have been quick to draw comparisons between the tabby and love songs legend Barry White, whose soulful voice was behind such hits as You’re The First, The Last, My Everything and Ecstasy.
In a short video clip posted to YouTube, Jack’s owner can be heard laughing while asking his cat to say ‘hello’ as the cat clambers over the kitchen work surface. To start, Jack is too shy to make any noise but eventually opens up, letting out and all-mighty ‘meow’ in a depth most people have never heard come out of a cat before.
The video quickly gathered literally thousands of views with some suggesting it is extremely rare for cats to be able to produce this level of depth to their voice. The owner stated in the video’s description: ‘So this is Jack and he has some sort of type of laryngeal paralysis? At least that is what the vet told me.’
YouTube user Grace Shah commented: ‘Zoologist here. That condition doesn’t cause any noticeable symptoms, especially that of a human-like meow, and a cat’s voicebox is pretty incapable of making a noise like that no matter what happens to it anyway. The video is obviously a funny joke.’
However, Sofia Garcia responded: ‘I don’t care if this is real or fake, it’s freaking hilarious either way. Please don’t fight about this, it doesn’t really matter.’
Real or not, this clip is hilarious!
