Kitten ‘Abused So Bad She Was Left With No Eyes’ – Watch Her Play With Her Rescuers!

ENGLAND – A kitten that had been abandoned is suspected to have been abused so badly that she was left with no eyes!

Tiny Ellen-Rae needed to have her eyelids GLUED SHUT by vets after a member of the public made the horrific discovery in Walton, Merseyside, on Wednesday afternoon.

As well as the problem with her eyes, vets have also discovered polyps in Ellen-Rae’s ears, which could leave her deaf.

However, that did not stop the playful kitten having fun with her rescuers.

The cat is currently being cared for by an animal charity and the team is appealing for cash to cover the huge medical bills.

Steph Taylor, who is a trustee from Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary, who is now caring for Ellen-Rae, stated: “We’ve re-homed around 1,500 cats and it’s one of the worst incidents I’ve ever come across.

“At first the vets thought she may have been born with no eyes or lost them to natural causes, but over the last couple of days, we’re leaning more towards the probability that she’s been abused.

“She was literally just found lying in the street. We don’t think she’s a feral cat, we think she was born into a home and for whatever the reason she’s been abandoned.

“We’re not sure where the infection has come from but the vets took her in straight away and operated on her.

“She’s staying with me at the moment and we’re going to give her every chance, but if we can’t clear this infection then her quality of life is going to be poor.

“Some people have seen the pictures and asked why she hasn’t been put down already, but she’s playful and eating.

“She’s not healthy enough to be re-homed yet but we’re doing all we can.”

Ellen-Rae’s name comes partially from a veterinary nurse called Rae who treated her, and the charity is fundraising to cover her medical bills.

Volunteers explained that they had been inundated with offers to re-home the injured cat already, however, were awaiting the results of further tests before making a decision.

Steph, who is 32, stated: “We really don’t know what’s going to happen. With the various problems with eyes, ears, and infections, she could be in a lot of pain.

“When she was found, she had no eyes and a polyp in her ear canal. Now she has another polyp in her other ear so she’s in the vets daily.

“Her antibiotic dose has been doubled and there’s a chance she could go deaf too.

“We’ve been in touch with an expert from the USA who specializes in blind and deaf cats and they have been giving us advice.

“Despite her ordeal, she is the sweetest, most trusting little angel you could ever meet and enjoys being carried around, giving kisses and sitting on your shoulder.

“I don’t know who is responsible for hurting her or dumping her but whoever it is, needs to seek help.”
