An 18-year-old man in Israel by the name of Hamdan was returning home from work when he found these three kittens on the side of the road. Aren’t they just adorable!
Hold on, hold on .. and look just a bit more closely …
They are kittens indeed … but what kind? Surely, they aren’t your garden variety house-cats!
Hamdan realized immediately that he had discovered something more than just an abandoned litter of stray domestic kittens! They were a litter of jungle cats!
With no mama cat around, Hamdan also realized he needed to get some help for these precious, little orphan jungle cats!
They were literally covered with ticks and they looked for lack of a better word … very “sickly.”
Hadam brought the entire litter to a local vet.
Sadly, not all of them made it. One of the poor kitties died. The other two remained in the care of the local vet for some time and it was determined that the kittens were about 5 weeks old, much too young to be weaned from their mama.
Once the two remaining wee ones had reached a healthy weight and were able to eat solid food on their own, the day had finally come for them to be re-released back into the wild.
This is what their mama cat would have looked like. These jungle cats are a rare sight in Israel and the truth of the matter is, it is estimated that there are only a few hundred of these cats left in the entire country of Israel!
Kudos, Hadam .. for saving these two precious babies, hopefully insuring yet another generation of these majestic creatures!
