CALIFORNIA – Five kittens recently discovered living under a wooden walkway near the Hop Yard Alehouse & Grill are getting a second chance at life after a group of Good Samaritans dismantled a wooden walkway to rescue them. Resident Nicole Beck later shared these amazing photos of a kitten rescue as it unfolded in Pleasanton last week.
“We saw these super awesome vet employees and a Hop Yard employee working really hard to rescue five kittens trapped under a wooden path,” Beck explained to Patch. “The vet had the mom already.”
Beck stated that the group, which included employees from the Pleasanton Veterinary Hospital and the Hop Yard Alehouse & Grill, worked diligently to unscrew the wooden boards along the walkway in order to free the felines, believed to be about three weeks old.
Pleasanton Veterinary Hospital receptionist, whose name is Beth Long, stated that the mother cat was discovered about three days before the kittens.
“The momma approached one of our veterinarians and was very sweet,” Long stated to Patch. “We fed and vaccinated her but were not sure where the kittens were. Three days later, the manager from the Hop Yard came to the clinic and said his restaurant guests could hear kittens meowing.”
Long said after the arduous process of removing the wooden boards was a success, all five kittens were rescued.
The litter of kittens and another kitten recently brought to the clinic all successfully nursed once they had been introduced to the mother cat.
“They have been fed, bathed and they are thriving,” Long stated.
The kittens will be available for adoption in just about six weeks from now. The Pleasanton Veterinary Hospital is located at 3059-B Hopyard Road, which is in Pleasanton, California.
