PALMERSTON, AUSTRALIA – A broken window frame was found by the resident of a Palmerston home and it led her to believe she was being burglarized – but the suspected intruder was merely a curious cat.

The woman and her husband called the police at 10.20pm on Saturday, worried an intruder was lurking around inside their Johnston home.

Territory Duty Superintendent Louise Jorgensen said the couple were quite alarmed to find the flyscreen at the front of their house had been “torn off.”

“Fearing an intruder was about to enter their house the wife jumped on the phone to police,” she said.

“At the same time the husband jumped in the car to chase the intruder they believed had run into the darkness.”

She said police were sent to the home but were called off when the identity of the intruder was finally revealed.

The husband had already caught the suspected culprit – a neighborhood cat.
