RUSSIA – Optina Monastery is an Eastern Orthodox refuge which is located in Kozelsk, Russia. A daily procession of blessings is among the ancient rituals followed by all of the monks who live there.
As Father Sergey Kuzmich walks the grounds, giving blessings to the monks, this groups of cats join him and are blessed, too. The monastery itself is home to a total of ten stray cats who are given shelter in exchange for their skills at pest control.
Buzzfeed writes: “Kuzmich doesn’t call the cats, but he manages to give them a blessing along the way. The walk just became a habit for them.
